Moving house, deposits, magnolia walls -- touching up

We're moving out of out house after 1 year, it was newly decorated on moving in - all magnolia which is a pain!!!
We found out the exact brand and type of paint used originally from the landlord and bought a tub - even still you can see a slight difference in tone under different lighting and different angles.
It definitely needs touching up though - especially with young children who have been using walls to walk and discovering food etc.
We always wiped walls to keep them tidy but you can see where they've been wiped as well under lighting.
Slightly different shades would surely come under fair wear and tear right?

one paint is a lot older, so will alterDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

That's what I thought. But our landlord is notoriously pinickity. We know we'll have to fight for every penny of our deposit back, just wondered what people's thoughts are regarding mismatch of colours for magnolia walls0

I wouldn't accept it like that. Expect a deduction equal to complete redecoration minus one year or repaint the whole walls yourself.0

Honestly it looks particularly awful in the first photo, not only different shade but a different texture?
Have you put one really thick coat on?
It looks like theres bits of congealed paint all stuck in it as well - although this could be from the original decorating I can't tell with the photo being such a small section of wall.
I'd get a roller and just do all the walls, it won't take you more than a couple of hours - tape up all the paintwork with masking tape so you don't get emulsion on the gloss work and away you go.0 -
photos will never show what it looks like in the flesh, something which are obvious don't show at all, others which are near unnoticeable can show quite clearly
i'm not sure what you have done to be honest, i've slapped magnolia of different brands on walls old and new to cover up marks, and you've generally had to get pretty close in a very well lit room to notice anything at all0 -
Just paint the whole wall? I'd probably wipe all the walls down though and leave it as it is, or repaint the whole lot rather than leaving it like that0

To be honest, you know your landlord is pernickity.., you've only lived there for a year so you know the LL is going to be wanting a higher standard than if you've lived there for five years.., you have kids who've damaged the paint finish. If I wanted to avoid the cost of paying for a decorator to come in and repaint.., I'd just do the complete walls that need repainting (and fill any holes in the wall made by pictures etc) at the same time.0
