We have had CPP insurance on our HSBC Gold Card for a number of years and have spoken to HSBC about a refund. They say it is nothing to do with them and we have spoken to CPP who say that they have no record because HSBC set it up when we took out card! Catch 22 situation. We still receive updates from CPP and they certainly hold all of our information so what can we do now? Any advice gratefully received.

Chase HSBC, especially if this was prior to 2005. You may need to send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter, which will cost you £10.0

My experience with HSBC is that if the Insurance was taken out more than 6 years ago, they claim they don't keep any records!
Its happened to me and I'm trying to find out what to do next.
Good luck with your claim.0 -

They are only required to keep documents as long as necessary. The FSA recommend they keep them for 6 years.
Again, if you want to see what's left, send a SAR ad £10. Immediately accesible records are not the same as archived records, so your only hope is that they have kept them in an arcive, and not destroyed them, as they are perfectly entitled to do.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
