I sent my request for statements to Halifax on 28th April by RD.
I got a standard letter saying they were inundated and that it might take longer than the 40 days.
I called to chase it up on sunday, tuesday and then again today.
The girl i spoke to said the financial ombusman had extended the response time to 60 working days.
Can anyone confirm this? It's the first i've heard of it

Any request made under the Data Protection Act has got NOTHING AT ALL to do with the financial ombudsman. It is overseen by the Information Commisioner. The Financial Ombudsman CANNOT change the 40 day deadline.
The time limit has not changed (it is the law). You can complain to the Information Commissioner, but this will also take time to deal with.
A threat to complain may shake the bank up. This has worked for me a few times in the past (received statements a few days after the threat to complain). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
