Options
Hi

Ive bin searching the internet to find an IDE 2 Port PCI Controller Card That Hosts Upto 4 IDE ATA133 Quickcode: #20137 and i found on at www.aria.co.uk great i thourt because i needed one that was none raid.
When it turned up it was a IDE RAID 2 Port PCI Controller Card w/ Raid 0,1,0+1 functions Quickcode: #20251 so i went to the website to get an RMA number to send it back because it was not the one i ordered

RMA is 195425.

and the answer i got back was

Unfortunately, your RMA request has been declined.

Please contact Customer Services at http://www.aria.co.uk/Support/Contact+Aria if you have any concerns.

so i sent e.mail

I ORDERD THIS

IDE 2 Port PCI Controller Card Quickcode: #20137
Hosts Upto 4 IDE ATA133 Devices

AND I GOT THIS

IDE RAID 2 Port PCI Controller Card Quickcode: #20251
w/ Raid 0,1,0+1 functions

THAT SHOULD HELP YOU TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO

THE ONE I ORDERD IS NONE RAID

THE ONE YOU SENT IS RAID

and i got back this

Thanks for your enquiry,

The product you received meets the specifications of the one you
ordered. That it offers other features in addition does not mean it is
incorrect. If you do not wish to use RAID you can simply refrain from
enabling this function. I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Aria Technology Ltd.

On the one hand, they haven't sent what you ordered - maybe it was out of stock. On the other, the RAID card is better and will do what you want - simply don't enable the RAID function, as they say. As long as they have only charged you the price of the cheaper card I would stick with what they've sent.

they possibly have a statement saying that they reserve the right to change the prouduct to a one of equal or higher spec. The card they have sent should hold 4 133atx drives & for them that is good enough. Many of the companies do this. Best thing to do, is give it a go & see if it does what you need. or Try again to get it returned but they may just accept the return with you paying the postage.
I suppose it will make it a little easier when deciding which shop to go to next time you buy something similar !
