NCP Manchester Arndale - Vent & Praise!

Used the multi storey car park at the Manchester Arndale Centre. It's one of those take your ticket and pay using the machine before returning to your car. Got upto the 9th floor where my car was parked a good 10 mins before the time limit moved up into the next price bracket to find the machine not working. Used the intercom to be told oh yes sorry an engineer is on the way...you can use another machine on another floor. Fair enough, went back down to the 7th floor to be met with a queue that snaked around the landing area, no way on earth was I going to get my ticket in the machine within the 10 mins, husband dispatched with ticket to try another floor, same problem there too. Finally got to the machine and yes I'd overstayed by 4 mins and had to pay the next rate - an increase of £2.10 - not a huge sum I know but every penny counts! Anyhow, when exiting I spoke to a member of staff and he advised to speak to the helpcentre again - I did they took my telephone number and as promised call me back. They did and they've offered me a £5 credit to cover my costs and some "goodwill". Result! I'm sure however they've made that back a hundred fold for all the other customers in the various queues all day who haven't thought of complaining about their increase in parking fee for having to queue for so long due to their broken machinery. :j:j:j
