Ikea delivery nightmare

Options
All, I had a very bad experience with IKEA delivery and I am still trying to resolve the issue. Let me tell you first my horrible experience.

I ordered a bed and cupboard for my little daughter's room from Wembley store in person. First of all the lady at the counter put wrong door number on the delivery form. When I pointed out, she said, not to worry we'll correct it. But I did ask her to confirm in writing which she did.

Next day I got a call from delivery guys that they will be with me within next 30-40 mins. For hour an half there was no sign of delivery van so I thought may be IKEA has given the delivery guys the wrong address, so I called the driver to inform that there could be address problem. He was not very impressed though all I was trying to be helpful. Once they came to my door, the guy comes to me and literally shouted that why did I call them??? I was taken a back but calmly explained the reason behind my call. He seemed to be in a real bad mood.

Anyway, he brought one small packet in and I asked him to put it a room which he did (At this point of time I was not aware of single room delivery rule as no one had told me). When he brought the next item in, I told him to put it in the other room which was literally 30 cm apart!! But the guys goes - "We have single room delivery rule and I will deliver all the items in the same room where I have put your small package". Now that was a news to me and I tried to explain to him that I was not aware about this till he mentioned. And even then bot rooms are adolescent and it would hardly matter to him. Also my little ones sleep in the room where he was putting stuff which was a health hazard. The guy turns around and says - "That is non of my business. Either all stuff goes in this room or I will take everything back!!" I tried to reason with the guy, even offered to help him but seemed he was in a real real bad mood.

At this point of time, I lost my cool and asked him to leave the premises.

When I called up to complain to IKEA, they washed their hands off saying the driver has complained that I was rude and hence I have to arrange another delivery. Of course if I wanted I could call up the delivery company and ask them if they are ready to help!!

I told the customer services (if you can call them that) that I paid ikea for delivery thinking they are going to provide service. Also I was never told about this single room drop off policy - how do I am suppose to know that. The guys says - Oh sorry if we did not tell you!!

Then I asked him how does a third party comes in picture? Going by that logic if a product is faulty, is Ikea going to ask me to go and talk to their supplier? The guy did not have an answer.

At this point I asked him if I could talk to his manager. After putting me on hold for 20 minutes, he came back with reference number and said manager will call back to me.

It goes without saying - I am still waiting for the call!!

I am at my wits end - how to teach Ikea a lesson!!
