Genuine competitions or just a way to build up a mailing list for other purposes?

Last week I entered this Facebook competition

I had a look at the website before I entered and would be happy to receive e-mails about their products, no problem.

Just opened my comping e-mail inbox and found an e-mail from L..... R.... of this company mentioning technical issues for her publisher (gives name) and goes on to say that this prevented many people from joining their National Compers Alliance.

It then provides a link to join (!!!!)

She then goes on about all that it can offer etc.

I've unsubscribed.

Has anyone else received this?

(I've noticed they've another competition on the main board at the moment...)

They are part of the group below (not ones I enter for) but there is no reason to doubt the prizes are real.

The comp you link to will have ended ages ago, there was a recent one for their postcards but entry was via the Simply Prizes Fb page

Just noticed I'd linked to the wrong date, it will be the one that is currently open I entered.

Having just checked the page I entered from it went to the Simply Prizes post, which is why I didn't notice...

Not again!!!!!!

They have these technical issues every year and therefore have to extend the deadline to join... you'd have thought they'd have sorted that out by now...
