Sliding wardrobes and alcoves

Hi all,
I have a quote for £2150 for a full size sliding wardrobe with shelves, 6 drawers and 4 hanger rails.

It covers the full wall 13ft long upto ceiling height. 4 doors in total. 2 with frosted glass and colour panels design and 2 with full size mirrors

Does this quote sound reasonable?

Also, I have a quote of £850 for living room alcoves cupboards with 2 glass shelves on the top. It's actually just the doors and shelves for the cupboard. Then thick glass shelves to the wall above it for books etc. sounds ok?

I live in beckenham, SE London.

Well I'm not sure if what I've had done fairly recently is a fair comparison. I bought my own sliding doors & track for a wardrobe width of about 12'. This consisted of 4 doors in total, being 2 white doors & 2 mirror doors. I bought doors etc. on an extra discount day & believe I paid around the £350-£375 mark.

I then had somebody in to fit them & design & create an interior to suit me. At one end are 5 very wide shelves, then I have 2 separate hanging areas with a long shelf above & in one of these hanging sections a low 4ft wide chest of drawers that I've owned for many years slotted in nicely giving me 2 deep drawers.

I can't quite recall how many days it took from start to finish as guy was here doing lots of other work for me too, but think it was around 3-4 days. His labour charge was £150 per day, so if he took 4 days to build it, that would be £600 labour + cost of shelving & any other materials required. Can't remember how much the materials etc. come to, but even if it was an extra £200, I've still paid not far off of £1k less than you.

Is this a company you are getting to fit wardrobes or getting done by a tradesman?

I live not a million miles from you on borders of SE London, so what I've paid for work is down south prices rather than the often cheaper up north prices we hear of often on mse.

Thanks Cattie. Yes it's a small local company.

Can I ask where you bought your doors from please?

Sorry, only just seen your post. My doors came from Homebase. Often on a Bank holiday weekend they have special offers so keep your eye out for any extra discount if you see anything you'd like to buy.
