When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending:money:

Morning Campers,
Well I attempted to start the thread this morning, but Ziggy beat me to it & I can't seem to get mine deleted, so have left instructions to ignore it & reply to this one!
Today's small money-saving things:
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff.
*Pouring with rain here, so have had to get heated airer out, but at least I haven't put the heating back on just for drying washing.
*Checked veggie seedlings for pests/problems. Discovered something had been having a bit of a scoff-fest in the greenhouse overnight. Found very large smug-looking snail hiding up. Needless to say it has now been dispatched to at least 4 gardens away!
*Meals as per meal plans.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Finish the last little bit of the toe on B-i-L's socks I'm knitting for present box. Cast on pair for friend's birthday.
*Did a few surveys.
*Make bread (currently in BM)
*Checked ebay re-listings - a small item sold overnight.
*Prepare fruit for soaking overnight to make pink grapefruit marmalade. Pink grapefruits 4 for £1 on the market at the weekend & only need 2 for a batch of marmalade so a good time to make it. Makes a nice gift with the jars prettied up.
*Postman brought a nice Easter card & my free seeds (Hurray!) but also news that our mobile contracts are increasing in price (Boooo!)
*Start making a definitive list of all ingredients/food still left to buy for Easter when we have family to stay.
*Free fitness as did aerobics DVD straight after breakfast.......that should have burned off my toast, at least!
*Leftovers for lunch.
OK, must return to my grapefruits. Kitchen smells lovely & citrussy.
It's a new week. Let's see how well we can do with keeping our hands on our pennies.

Am at work today so am earning rather than spending :TTook eBay parcels to the post office and signed in to read a few posts while I'm eating my (homemade) soup for lunch.
Just in case you think I'm completely virtuous, I am also ever so slightly hung over after celebrating my eBay success with a bottle of wine last night
Now I need to check my bank account - do this every day just in case there's something I've forgotten or OH has had a sneaky spend.0 -
Happy Monday, DFWs!
Over the weekend I completed wash bags as presents for three family members who all have birthdays in April. I spent a little money on some iron-on vinyl for the lining and a couple of other notions, but they still come out about a third of the cost they would to buy in the shops. I stuffed them with freebie samples that I mostly found on these boards! I feel very accomplished.
I also made some pretty fabric-backed burp cloths for a friend who has just had a baby. The kind of thing they sell for a fortune and I can't see why you'd ever spend money on something specifically designed to be thrown up on - but they were very quick and easy to make!
Today I'm meeting someone to pass off an eBay sale, and I've found a box that's the perfect size to post the washbags in, so I don't need to buy one from the post office. Result!0 -
Hi everyone
A rainy day here in Hampshire - so all the washing is on airers to air dry.
I visited Tesco yesterday, early evening and managed to buy several bags of rolls. Yellow sticker, so proud of that saving moment. Half, now in freezer.
Adult DD has said she does not like the shower gel that seems to be 2/3 used ;0/. Guess what will be going in my bath then? I am all for using up and saving pennies.
Using FREE sample Sensodyne toothpaste and Dolce perfume.
Applied for the FREE wildflower seeds early this morning.
Read The Daily Mail online.
My prize win of a Moo musical cow came via postie. I have put it in the fridge and it says Moo every time the door opens as it is light sensitive.
This will be a talking point of "what she has done now!".
Used all my Tesco points and £6 in the Tesco direct shop on needs and not wants. Got FREE express delivery,
I bought some items for husbands b/day comming up and a small milk pan and new laundry basket.
The handle of my old faithfull small pan snapped off a few days ago.
Done some surveys, agreed to trial some deoderant.
Washed dishes, usual cleaning. dog sitting.
Craft = knitting. Started 2nd sleeve last night.
Fuel saving = changed to slightly cheaper tariff.
No heating in house for few weeks now.
Turn lights off and unplugging.
Air dry my long hair instead of hairdryer.
Dinner = HM potato wedges and burgers going in the oven. Have the yellow sticker rolls.
Wile the oven is on a tray of sausage rolls for fridge pickers and lunches.
Young tomato plants are doing well. They got reconition earlier this week. A visitor asked - Are they tomato plants? Replied -yes. Person said he had not planted his seeds yet.
Marigolds and sweet pea are up and well! growing....
Sweet corn are not playing = planted x2 lots of seeds now and we have just x2 shoots.
Sp check is not working so may have some wrong spellings but hay the chat is what matters...
Have a penny pinching day.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
