Best short-term savings option?!?

Hello
Very newbie question here.
My wife has around 40k saved from working in Australia.
The money is currently in an Australian bank account and she is now back working in the UK.
She would like to move the money to a UK savings account. However, we are hoping to use the money for a mortgage deposit within the next few months. So, what is her best option in terms of accruing some interest given that the money might not be in the account for very long as we would want to use it within the next few months as a mortgage deposit??
Any help or advice would be HUGELY appreciated!
Many thanks.
Ben

Certain current accounts currently pay more than savings accounts, but on restricted amounts. 2 Santander 123 acs (one each, and possibly one joint) would pay 3%AER on £40k. Nationwide, TSB, LLoyds, Clydesdale pay more on less. Lots of discussion on each of them on this board.Eco Miser

Will look into Santander.
Any other suggestions appreciated.

Probably of more importance would be ensuring teh money is transferred at teh best rate possible with the lowest fees. The big banks can charge a lot for this so using a. Specialist broker could potentially earn more than interest on teh money for a couple of months.0
