Car allowance - non driver

Hi there - I have just got a promotion and have been offered a car allowance as part of my new package, however I don't have a license. Of course I plan to learn now, but in the meantime am I still able to receive this? Thanks in advance for your help.

That would entirely be a matter for your employer. I'd have thought the answer was 'yes', on the basis that I've yet to encounter an employer that forced anyone to actually spend their car allowance on a car.

At a previous company I worked for we refused to pay this out for employees who didn't have a licence.
If you can't drive why would someone buy you a car? Once someone had passed their test bought a car we would start paying.

At a previous Co, we would use the Car allowance for driving lessons, and either send staff on a weeks intensive driving course or let them have traditional lessons.
