ive a sony E370 blue ray 5.1 surround sound and have recently moved home. i had the speaker wire under the floor at the old house so had to cut the wires to 3 speakers to move.
i bought some speaker wire and connected the wires together for the back 2 speakers and the front left as these were the ones i had to cut. as theres no red/black strip on them i just connected them up.
theres now sound coming out of them and i thought id got lucky. not so fast, ive read that sound will still come out of them but its not 'right'. people have mentioned, in more 'tech' forums to use a thx optimiser to fix.
has anyone a laymans fix for me please?

Play something "bassy" put the two speakers face to face a few inches apart and swap the wires on one of them - no base if they are "out of phase"
Find a DVD with a THX logo on it it will have a sound optimiser on it0 -
As above, if we're talking about being out of phase due to being wired wrongly, I don't understand how you can't just make sure it's wired correctly. There are 2 wires per speaker, and one wire should have a stripe all the way along it, or a ridge as part of the insulation. I treat this as a massive, long negative '-' symbol, and connect it to black, the other to red.
Now that you've got the wiring right, you will need to setup your sound to your new room. This is where THX really comes in as it helps massively with calibration.0
