There is a saying that if you are being paid for something you would do anyway, it is not work.
If it is for a friend, they might be a bit more understanding if you are a little tired. Tell them you will give it a trial to see how it goes.
Paying off debts is best treated as top priority, and you have been given an opportunity to do it a little faster.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I have 2 jobs, job 1 5 days a week 8 hours per day, on my feet all day and busy. Job 2 2 days a week day 1 8 hours day 2 5 hours office based, sat on my backside!
I work 7 days a week for 48 weeks of the year, I have 4 weeks off in December. I have worked 7 days a week for the last 3 to 4 years, and have now got use to it.
I have to plan and organise my life, I don't have kids. (I do have 1 x OH and 1 Cat)
I did it originally because what is now job 2 was not able to pay me, and I need money to live. Job 1 has just promoted me as well!!
What I do would not suit the majority of people, but I am debt free, and now able at long last able to save a little each month.
It has sort of become a way of life, if I had 2 totally free days off, I ma not sure what I would do.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Go for it. I work part-time despite being a full-time student with a stipend and it has made *all* the difference to me. I can live off my stipend and put a little away most months, but now I save consistently, can help family out, go on holidays and am still on track to clear by debts early. The work means I have to be better organised with my time (which is good) and the freedom the money brings is awesome.LBM: June 2023. Amount owed: ~£10,000I've gone debt free before, I can do it again!0

I have held down two jobs and it can be tiring. Most of my thoughts have been covered except working for a friend can cause a strain on the 'friendship' - so that is the angle I would look at it from.
Good luck x:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0 -
Thanks all!
I am a horse owner spending £70 per week on his keep - this job would be working on the yard and £60 for one admittedly long day! So from that perspective well worth it. Somebody else on the yard (in fact three!) has done this previously and no negative effects on the friendship once it was time for them to step down.
I did speak to the yard owner and register my interest - he had somebody come forward before me but if that doesn't work out then we'll give it a trial.0 -

Ha, that's really funny because I taught riding on the yard where I kept my horse because of the costs. I wish mine had only been £70 a week though - mine cost her usual DIY stabling plus rather about £30 a week in petrol and £400 a month (every month) for her drugs  I taught from 9-11, 12 - 4, then 5- 6 with an hour off for lunch when I did my own mucking out , mucked out all the school in the 11-12 slot and in the 4- 5 slot I made up all the feeds and skipped out the 3 showjumpers. I have to admit it that after a while I got very tired, not least because I took it very seriously and used to spend ages planning lessons and writing out info sheets and homework sheets for the little ones. I did that for £25 every Sunday and did it for years. It also wore my spine out prematurely so bear that in mind!0 -
I had a 9-5 job Monday to Friday, an office cleaning job from 6pm-9pm Monday to Friday and then a bar job on Saturdays and Sunday lunchtimes. I did this for about 3 years and then gave up the cleaning job as it became too much for me and I never really got a chance to eat properly during the week as when I got home from the cleaning job, I was too tired and it was too late to eat.
I gave up the bar job about a year later when my main job transferred to London and I was getting tired from the commuting and stressful job and needed the weekend for winding down.
The extra money was very useful though and did enable me to clear my debts quicker than originally predicted.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I have had 2nd and sometimes 3rd and 4th jobs for about the last 10 years. I am hoping that if I finally move in with my partner, I can knock it all on the head, as I would halve my outgoings straight away. But as a single person I've never been able to afford to go without the extra income. The luxury of choice is a great feeling, so I would go for it if you could do with the money, but skip it if you think you can manage without and don't want to lose any of your free time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
