sending ceramics - any couriers offer compensation if a parcel is damaged

I want to send a ceramic in the post but I wondered if any couriers (or Royal mail) offered compensation if a parcel is damaged?
I've had a look at the myhermes page of exclusions and ceramics are on the list of things they don't offer compensation for. Is this list the same for all couriers?
The value would be under £50 and probably under £20

In all honesty, if your sent ceramics are damaged then your packaging is at fault.0 -

Although MyHermes did once deliver some of my china with the outer box physically cut open and then run over !
I do still use MyHermes though but bomb proof my wrapping . OP the only insured postage I am aware of is RM Special delivery, but even then they don't pay out if they don't like your packaging.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So possibly its a case of realising there is no compensation, you take your chances and just going overboard on the packing - with myhermes you can go up to 1kg or 2 kg so plenty of room for packaging.
I noticed on myhermes you can state on the outside what the contents are - does this help or is it just an added incentive for a parcel driver to stamp on your parcel?“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
TNT have a special service for fragile goods, but it would be too expensive for a £50 item. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I know someone who's business is glass type goods (not on Ebay). They've gone through every courier, some of who they believed they were insured by, and had many breakages and claims and never a pay out.
They've come to the conclusion that they have to 'insure' it themselves, as mentioned above, just make it as unbreakable as possible.
There are some fragile services and even some private couriers who specialise in that type of thing but that's usually for very high end stuff..0
