Samsung Galaxy Tab charging issues

My brother has the Galaxy Tab 2 10inch.
It was bought for him for Christmas 2012 (actually purchased in November 2012), so is over a year old.
About six months after he had it it started having charging issues. The tablet is plugged in and it goes to charge and then it switches off, then it comes on again and tries to charge and goes off again. This happens all the time it is plugged in and we are lucky to get it to charge at all.
My dad is slow in sorting things out so it wasn't until about 11 months after purchasing it that he took it back to the shop (Carphone Warehouse). They replaced the middle bit of the charger and it worked for a couple of months and now we have the exact same issue! I don't think they logged that the tablet was brought in so I think we will have a fight trying to return it as faulty now
Does anyone know what might be the problem? I'm hoping its an easy fix!

            Try a known working cable, if thats not the issue then the tablet itself is faulty, other than that I dont know.0

            Hi, have you noticed if the charging icon is a red cross instead of the lightening flash?
My 3 all got a galaxy tab for Xmas 2012, by march none of them were charging properly :mad: I phoned samsung and they took them all in for repair, 1 week later I get them back supposedly fixed and they all had the exact same problem :mad:
I ended up buying 3 new charging cables from eBay and they have worked perfectly for a year now! :j I think they must send out rubbish cables because a friend had the same issue with hers after a few months.
Hope you get it sorted!

            Might be a little on the late side here, but you do know that the Galaxy Tab has a 2 year guarantee from Samsung (they lump it in with their mobile phones which all carry 2 year guarantees)?
