Debt collectors letter after 1 year!!!

Hi,
I have received a Debt Recovery letter from Zenith Collections, for a windowscreen UKPC PCN issued on 24/04/2013
The contravention was "No Disabled permit. Parked in a disabled person's space without clearly displaying a valid blue badge"
My husband approached the parking attendant straightaway and showed him our Blue Badges. He said just phone the office and they will cancel it straightaway.....yeah right.
We were instructed to fill out the online appeal, and send in proof of blue badge, and it will be sorted. I did this(not naming driver) with photocopy of blue badges. I then received the usual fob off, but with a reduced offer.
I decided to not pay anything, and received a solicitors letter telling us we owed £150. We phoned them and basically said take us to court, we are not paying anything. That was the last we heard from them until now.
Zenith Collections are now saying we have an outstanding amount of £150, but are willing to accept a reduced settlement figure of £80 to avoid the possible necessity and expense of legal action.
I'm not sure of what action to take now.

When your appeal was rejected did they supply you with a POPLA code?
Also, did you mention the Equality Act in your appeal?0 -
Hi, no I don't remember receiving any POPLA code. And again no, I wasn't aware of the equality act then.0
-
Do you still have any of the correspondence from them? There is generally a code (some hide it on the back of the rejection letter), if there isn't then this could give you a way to appeal. If there is then you have missed your window.
Which parking company was this?0 -
UKPC aren't particularly litigious (not likely to take you to court).
I would just ignore them. But, DON'T ignore any letters called Letter Before Claim or any correspondence from the County Court.0 -

Do you think it would be worth sending a letter to UKPC anyway, just to state they are breaching the Equality Act??0 -
Personally I wouldn't bother, I'd save that little nugget for later use. But if you want to then it cannot do any harm, but I'd be advised by a few others on here before you proceed.0

UKPC are utterly useless scammers, ignore them completely, the same as Zenith Collections who are actually Debt Recovery + pretending to be someone else.
Did you make any complaints to the retailers or landowner? If not it's not to late to do that now, explain that they are in breach of the Equality Act 2010 and if they don't get this cancelled you will consider legal action against them and their parking agents.
Have you sorted your Parking Eye ticket? When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
