Working tax credit and child tax credit? Really confused

Trying to do the sums and figure out what is the minimum I need to earn to keep the household afloat in our situation,
Now I put in to the calculator and it seems to think that we could be entitled to £10789.40. This is broken down as £6051.70 child tax credit and £4737.70 working tax credit. This figure does not include childcare costs as this would not be needed due to a family member being able to look after the youngest.
That must be wrong surely no one gets that much, it doesn't ask about salary but I was looking at £16,000 being a starting point. Is there anywhere I can get a more accurate figure so I can work out how much I need to earn so I am applying for jobs in the correct wage bracket?

I assume you have 3 or more children
tables are here for no childcare

They will initially base it on your previous years income and ask what this years income will be (and if >£5k higher than previous year will base it on an this years income less £5k)0 -
Yes, my partner is on esa and dla, unable to work indefinitely although I expect that will be subject to reviews. I have one school aged child and one baby.0

Thank you. I used the HMRC calculator here:

He receives the mid rate I believe.
In an ideal world I would like to be working fulltime (35 hours p/w) and on much more than £16,000, I am looking at the work I have experience in and the wages go anywhere from £15k to £26k.0 -

Thank you so much, this is a fantastic tool. Looks like I would be fine to earn £16,000 or more which is perfect. I have been working on my CV all day ready to start applying tomorrow :j0
