PPI confusion

HI,
I'm hoping someone can help me with PPI. I opened a Miss Selfridge account when I was at university, approx 10 years ago, and was paying PPI on it. The original card was with GE Money but has since been changed several times and is now with Santander. I applied to Santander who refused my claim. I believe that as a student I shouldn't have been paying PPI and also felt pressured over the phone to take it out.
Should I try and claim from GE Money or do I need to continue to pursue Santander? I still have the card with the same account number but am very sketchy for dates etc for when I took out the card originally.
Many Thanks

Your card and PPI was taken out prior to regulation (Jan 2005) and this is why your complaint was so easily dismissed. Do note that any mis-selling complaint goes to the seller of the insurance, not the provider.
You cannot complain again to Santander as you've had a "full and final" response to your complaint. You have no access to the Ombudsman. GE Money would just refer you back to Santander.0 -

Maybe you just need to be persistent, I have successfully reclaimed PPI from a Halifax loan from 1996, with no paperwork or account numbers, just a simple letter and Halifax sent back a list of all financial products id ever had with them, they upheld my complaint on one loan as the tick box for PPi had not been ticked, but PPi was charged for, another account went to the ombudsman and I won my case for mis-selling.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. The PPI which the OP of this thread has was attached to a store card for which regulation was not introduced until January 2005.
So the circumstances of your success are entirely different.sourcrates wrote: »another account went to the ombudsman and I won my case for mis-selling.0 -

As I already pointed out in post #2, the OP of this thread has no access to the Ombudsman unless the PPI was taken out post January 2005.

What you do now is find out who insured the card, probably Genworth, and complain to them. Include the rejection from Santander. You may have success, you may not, but it's your last avenue.
Your rejction from Santader should have the dates on it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
