I said it was a crippling penalty and it is. It has prevented me in the past from trying to change suppliers and lenders when I am trying to reduce my payments, NOT to increase my indebtedness.

Why has it stopped you changing suppliers? Are you talkng about utilities?

I'm struggling to see a scenario where this would affect you. Find a cheaper broadband provider, get a mac code, apply - job completed. Same with electric/gas etc.

At the end of the day if you've managed credit well the past 6 years you don't care, it you've not managed it well every little thing becomes a big issue for some people. As far as I'm concerned this searches thread is a none issue, you can shop around without any credit applications being performed.

Yes I do understand but when I used the word 'crippling' I was not using it in the context you state. You state that "Anyone who will find inability to get a new card ""crippling" is already in trouble".

I said it was a crippling penalty and it is. It has prevented me in the past from trying to change suppliers and lenders when I am trying to reduce my payments, NOT to increase my indebtedness.

So you didn't say crippling but you did, but it wasn't in the context of anything being crippling, but it was, and your finances are fine, but being unable to change lenders was crippling.

    Got you.
