Thanks Innovate, it never even occurred to me to do that.

I don't have any SO or DD's from the account to switch but could easily set up 2 SOs to myself/OH if that would work. Will look into it!

You don't need DDs or SOs to get the £100 bonus for switching to Halfiax or First Direct!

I'm pretty sure you do for Halifax...
To qualify for the £100 switching offer ("the offer") you must use the 'Current Account Switch Service' and meet the following conditions:

Use the 'Current Account Switch Service', to switch into a new or existing Halifax Current Account, Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account ("your account").
Use the 'Current Account Switch Service' to transfer all the active credits and debits from the bank account that you hold with another bank and close this account.
Switch a monthly credit of at least £750 into your account and a minimum of 2 active monthly direct debits.

I think that's changed in the last week. I can no longer switch my dormant Nationwide account I was going to switch to them...

    It's currently April...

But seriously, without the sarcasm, their terms have changed since then. My previous post shows what they are now, here's what they were in March, no mention of DD:

    • If your account has an overdraft, we will waive the daily fees payable on a planned overdraft for 6 months on the day you start your switch. This also applies if an overdraft is applied to your account on the day you start your switch. This relates to this switching offer only.
    • You are not eligible if you have received the offer at any point since January 2012.
    • Bank of Scotland bank account customers are not eligible for the offer.

One might be lined up for a £50 refer-a-friend switching incentive with Nationwide (switch 2 DDs from elsewhere your Nationwide account, and close the other account).

The other 2 will be kept as donor accounts for switching offers elsewhere...I'd imagine?

One might even be a joint account, meaning it's still making 5% AER.

i would be interested in why leeroy has 4 NWFD accounts too..:)

Because it pays 5% and you could have four of them (for a while).
