Editing a word document on my iPad?

I've tried skydrive, documents free, Dropbox and Google docs so far. I need to edit an application form but so far haven't had any luck.

If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it :)

MS office is now available in the app store... be warned it isn't very Money Saving!!

Do you not have access to a PC/laptop with office to do the editing?
  • I haven't used this myself, but may be of use to you.

    Without a custom app, iPad can't & won't edit a Word file.
You'll get as far with a mallet, with as much frustration.

I strongly suggest finding a better tool for the job.

Does Office Mobile not work for this? This is free so do not see why not money saving. (However an application form may have too complex a structure for Office Mobile to allow editing.)
  • download Pages and edit the file in there, be warned though, the more complicated the file the more chance the file will end up looking very different.

Once in pages you can open it up on your iCloud account, if you have one, on any web browser.

Goolge Docs will let you do some stuff too, but I'm no fan of Goolge.... oops spelt it wrong not once but twice, shame on me!!!!

You could try opening the file in a pdf editor too, not always totally successful it depends on how much information you need to add.

I do have an office style emulator, I was lucky and got it when it was going free but it's only £6.99 full price, way cheaper than the MS alternative.

.... or then again you could pm me, I'll give you my email, send me the file (if it's not too private) with the changes you want to make. I'll amend the file and send it back.
If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!

I don't know if it it will do exactly what you need, but I've found CloudOn to be quite good for creating and editing Word documents on the iPad.

Have you tried the Microsoft equivalent of Google Docs? This is free, lets you edit over the web and you might hope is more compatible.

You'll probably need to create a Microsoft Account to use it, but that's free too, and doesn't need to create a new email address (your Microsoft Account ID can be your email address with Google or whatever)
