I too have burned the said file to CD as instructed ...
It comes up saying 'read' but then, because it's such a bag of sh1 it doesn't read the sodding file .. grrr.

Did you unpack it put in the root directory and finalize the cd.

I agree with the second post. 99% of what you want is done reliably with a Humax box. Is archiving progs to DVD really important?

With the increasing use of DRM, many find it is. Your hard drive can easily crash and even if you have a backup it won't necessarily play on a replacement.

DVDs also enable you to share.

It's just a shame that the only decent quality DVD option these days (the Panasonic) is quite expensive.

Yes. How else would the OP watch the programmes in another room, or share them with others outwith the house?

How else would the OP keep more than the capacity of the HDD?

    Etc
    Etc

Erm, no Z's please, this is not america ;););)

Anyway, yes, I did ... well I think so, what exactly does 'put it in the root directory' mean? :o

I unzipped the .zip and then copied the .rom onto the CD, there was *nothing* else on the CD.

I have tried it on two CD's and one DVD. (although the DVD refused to finalise, had to reboot PC to get it out!)
All discs do what that guy on you tube said, put it in, then it says REAd
but then just goes back to the 'time of day' display, then to 'HOME' but then when I scroll through the options in the home menu they all say invalid disc (or something like that)

    :(

The root directory is the first directory if you have nothing else on cd then it is it root directory. It worked for me but it looks like you are unlucky unless someone who knows more than me comes along.

I suppose it could be the software you are using to burn CD I was using third party software on an windows XP pc.

I've D/L'd ImgBurn, but it tells me that my two remaining blank CD's are dodgy.
I will get some more tomorrow and report back ...............

Losing the will to live here :(

Whether I use a CD or DVD, I put it in and it says REAd, but then nowt happens, just a buzz and whirr for a few seconds then opens up 'HOME'
I've tried all the options in there to make the disc play but they all say invalid format.
I unplugged it last night then this morning I put the DVD in after switching it on and it 'played' for 1.30 on the counter then stopped. Can't even make it do that again now :(

    Any more bright ideas anyone???

Buy a Panasonic to replace it.
