mbna: handle alliance & leicester / virgin cards?

i was just about to apply for a a&l credit card, transferring the balance from my virgin card. but saw

'We do not accept balance transfers from cards or loans issued by MBNA.'

i'm pretty sure mbna handle all the virgin cards. can anyone here confirm my thoughts please.

Go ahead and apply for the new card but do not mention anything about bt at this stage. Hopefully you will be accepted and then ask them to transfer the funds to your bank account. The same conditions would apply, ie the promotional rate and fee etc. Then you could pay the other card off.

Might be a wasted application and unnecessary credit search. At best, the Virgin credit limit will be taken into consideration when setting the A&L credit limit. At worst, could be declined.

Similar thread already posted today. From memory, £5K already on Virgin and only £1.2K given on an A&L card.

can you explain please? i've only ever done tranfers between cards never had to go thru my bank account.

eg previously i transferred from barclaycard to virgin. all i did was told virgin cc the barclaycard cc details and then the transfer took place, without the need for my bank account getting involved.
