I really dread to ask how you spent that much, unless you are including the most expensive mouse/keybaord and monitor in there.
Personally I running a 3570k overclocked to 4.5Ghz as as you say there really is nothing it can't handle.
Well the Mouse was £35, the keyboard was something like £75 and I bought an Asus Orion Pro gaming headset too which was another £75. Wouldn't mind but I've changed the mouse and keyboard now to Razer! Ha!0 -
Finally splashed out and bought the machine, but upped the anti a little!
Processor =Intel I7 4770
Memory = 16gb 1600Mhz DDR3
Graphics = 780 GTX
Storage = 1tb HD + 240gb SSD
Power = 850W
Optical = DVD RW
Operating System = Windows 7 64bit
Also splashed out on three 22" iiyama 2ms Monitors, and a new mouse and keyboard set.
Completely blew my budget, but the lot came to around £1280.
Everything should be delivered this week, so fingers crossed it will be up to the task!0 -
Those aren't 16:9 monitors, are they? 22" 16:9 is very short just on one monitor. On three it will be like a giant underscore! Your eyes will thank you for getting a high-quality screen. You can always add a couple of cheapies on each side.
Assuming you've gone for "value" budget TN screens at 1080P (the cheapest size), you might want to consider cancelling and getting a larger, higher-resolution, 16:10 IPS screen - at least for your central screen. It really does make all the difference. After all, what's the point of spending so much on the kit inside the PC case if it's diluted by being shown on low-end screens?Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
No wonder you have blown the budget, you have built a no comprimises top end machine.
Out of intererest why 1600mhz ram? yes its not going to make a massive difference but the price difference to 1866mhz+ kits isn't all that much.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

for gaming purposes there really is no discernable difference between 1600 and 1866 mhz RAM0 -

I agree, but this isn't just a gaming machine and for CAD work it could make a difference.
As mentioned the price isn't usually all that different either.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

They are 16:9 monitors, and don't really have an issue with using these with my workstation at work.
This is the one that i have gone for, it seems to tick all the boxes, and have been impressed with the iiyama screens in the past

The memory that I've got, is what is supplied in the deal of the base system i have ordered.
With a bit of luck, it will last a few years before i need an upgrade!0 -

No luck involved, you have built a monster so it will remain monstrous for a good while.
I will say I think you have over spent in many respects, not such a bad thing if you have the money to spare but you have past the best value points to which you could build a PC with 90% of the power for 75% of the price.
Hope the build all goes well, of course there is many of us to help if you have any problems.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Is it too late to cancel the orders for the monitors? That screen ticks the feature boxes (mostly), but it's a cheap, dull panel. It will suffice if you've never used anything different, but "impressive" shouldn't be the word.
You could get an absolutely brilliant screen for £300. You've been able to import an overclockable 30" 2560x1600 (16:10) S-IPS screen for just £300 on eBay since January.
Treat your eyes! Don't settle for having all of your expensive new power (i7! GTX 780!) reduced to churning out a washed-out, low-resolution image.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?

For my situation at present, the advantages of a triple monitor system outweigh the advantages of a single kick !!! high res screen, due to the use of CAD software (and a little share trading) Thats not saying i might not upgrade to a super high res screen or 3 in the future when the prices come down!0
