Hi Guys,
I am currently in the market for a new PC, and have a very strict requirement on the system. Was wondering if anyone knew the best place to get the best deal on a custom made lump! My reasons for wanting this performance, is partly as will be used for some of the latest games, but will also be used as a 3D CAD workstation, running the likes of Autodesk Inventor, REVIT, PDMS and such.
The Specs i am after are as follows
Processor =Intel I7 4770K
Memory = 16gb 1866Mhz DDR3
Graphics = GTX 770
Storage = 2tb HD + 120gb SSD
Power = 650W (minimum)
Optical = DVD RW
Operating System = Windows 7 64bit
Not fussy on the case, and don't need a monitor, mouse or keyboard.
Due to wanting to save cash, i want to buy this system at the best price. My best quote so far is £950 delivered. The challenge is on!

£950 seems very cheap for those specs; even assuming that it doesn't include a monitor, keyboard & mouse, speakers, etc... Where were you quoted that?0

Are you against building it yourself?
Any reason you don't want windows 8.1?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Which is your biggest priority, gaming or workstation ?
as its generally difficult to make a pc that works well for both.
Gaming cards are not that great when using things like CAD, and the High End cards are not really that good for gaming.
If this is for work, then i would go with a proper workstation card like the Quadro and sacrifice some of the gaming performance.
if its more of a hobby, then a gaming card will probably be good enough.0 -
I agree with cycrow by your needs description for the use of what you need and do to me seems like you either need to compromise something or build 2 dedicated systems. one for 3D CAD and one for Gaming.0

Depends on how big a comprimise and the budget.
In my case I run games but also heavy video editing.
The bigger choice within my budget was 8 core AMD vs 4 core Intel, the AMD was slighty strong on the video editing while the Intel would be better for gaming.
In the end I went for the Intel as the performance was great for gaming but also good enough for video editing, yes its slightly slower to encode but not enough to worry about.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

The biggest Priority is Gaming on the system to be honest. But i will be using the machine as a plain AutoCAD system a reasonable amount(as thats what I have a legal licence for!) but also wanting to train myself up on Inventor, Revit and the like, as I have student versions available. The more I can learn the Latest 3D software, the more employable I become, and the higher rate i can demand in my next contract!
I see little point in investing on a separate machine for each purpose, when 1 will do the vast majority of what i am needing0 -
You might be better saving money and getting the 4670k basically the same without hyper threading which can actually hurt gaming, plus it saves you around £100 which would could keep in your pocketed or chuck at extra gpu grunt.
Are you upto self building? and past that overclocking?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I've just bought a rig with an i5-4670K and GTX 770 and I can honestly say, it's brilliant. Can't imagine there's many things it can't do, especially when it comes to gaming. But even with going for an i5 processor, it was still around £1200 including peripherals such as gaming Keyboard and mouse. You'd be hard-pushed to find it cheaper than that, even when building yourself with parts from Amazon it comes to a total of £1100..0 -

I really dread to ask how you spent that much, unless you are including the most expensive mouse/keybaord and monitor in there.
Personally I running a 3570k overclocked to 4.5Ghz as as you say there really is nothing it can't handle.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
