is there one that lists charities considered reputable which spend the money as claimed?

All UK registered charities are obliged to publish their annual accounts, and these are available on the Charity Commission website. The CC notes charities who file late, and takes action against those who don't file at all. However, you may have to do some research if you have particularly strong feelings about how the money is spent.
