Good afternoon everyone. Yesterday I came home from North Wales and my car was overheating and the fan wasn't working. I got the recovery guy out and the head gasket went shortly after. Thank god we didn't carry on driving! Basically, I'm not sure what to do now. The MOT runs out at the end of May anyway, but do you think I would be able to sell it to someone who knows what they are doing- i.e a garage or would they not touch it? Or is my only option to scrap it. Thanks

If the car was running, you may struggle to get £200 for it, seen newer ones on autotrader for £175.0

You could put it on eBay as spares/repair, but - honestly - it's unlikely to make you much more than the zero-hassle route.0

It is a possibilty, however I feel if the OP has the space and more so the ability, then they may have the ability to replace the gasket themselves.0 -

You end up with the trouble of advertising, waiting for a buyer to arrive, and are left with the bits that won't sell.
Much easier to get it collected and get a few pounds with no hassle (make sure they are legit, and give a certificate of destruction, not some local tatters)
You can make more by driving it to the scrapyard yourself (if it is a couple of miles just fill the water up and go) if you want to chance it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
