hello need some help please my wife went into labour two days ago and because I was at work, mother in law gave her a lift to maternity ward. She paid for a ticket but as my wife is hospital staff she only needed to pay 65p for 12 hours, (this is a perk for hospital staff) In the moment my wife forgot her parking permit! And in addition wasnt driving her own car, Because of her situation(in labour)it was the last thing on her mind to worry about. Mother in law got back to car 30 mins later to find a parking fine we will appeal but as my wifes mum is scared of getting into trouble she wants to pay it!is there anything i can do other then appeal
many thanks james

Hope your wife and baby are okay, and congrats on becoming a dad
Anyway , lets go through this a step at a time. Is this in England or Wales ? Who is the registered keeper of the car? Who have the ticket, as in company name? Have you made any complaints to the nhs trust?

many thanks, yes my wife and son are doing fantastic thanks. The car is registered to my wifes mother(she is not NHS staff) I was unable to drive my own car with which our parking permit is registered to. The parking ticket was issued at st Marys on the isle of wight. Yes we complained to the issuing parking attendant, even though my wife is staff he told us to appeal to CP plus ltd. We have the ticket and no we haven't complained to the NHS.

Okay so the advice is to wait for the notice to keeper to arrive, then make an appeal to cp plus, if they reject then go to popla where it will be cancelled. The letter must be with you between days 29-56 after ticketing. You can handle this on her behalf, it will take 2 emails and that is it.
Now please read the sticky thread by coupon mad in the parking forum, it explains everything there, also make complaints to the nhs trust over this. And you have no worries over cp plus, they are toothless and never do court. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Tell your MIL that you will win this at appeal - because we win 100% of the time.
To calm her nerves, I would recommend in this case she appeals NOW (earlier than normal) and I don't mean an appeal that talks about 'what happened'! Use the template in the NEWBIES thread, which can equally be sent now rather than waiting for the first letter if you think MIL might just panic and pay when she gets the first letter. The NEWBIES thread is one of the sticky threads you read before posting here, top of the forum. You don't need other advice, appeal IS the way to win this as long as you use OUR words and write as if you are MIL. You could add a point #4 to the template to say that the passenger was a staff member in labour and has a permit which entitles her to pay 65p for 12 hours (copy of permit attached and a maybe even a little pic of the new baby to make the sad CP Plus employee smile - must be a thankless job!). DO NOT state whether it was displayed or not, no need.
Also I have seen CP Plus cases where they pass the case straight to a debt collector, TNC, after a windscreen ticket. There is no 'NTK' sent by CP Plus - just a rubbish threatogram from TNC. So to avoid worry I would send the template appeal right now in MIL's name. Possibly even use YOUR postal address so the reply comes back to you - or if you can email the appeal, create a new hotmail/gmail addy that YOU will see the reply to (even though you must sign off in MIL's name as keeper).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
