Extension plans

We've had someone round to quote for drawings for a single storey extension off our dining room.
Included in his quote is several options for the space, which will include a redesign of our kitchen, dining room and new extension making a big L shaped area. Liaising with building regs, structural engineers etc, but their fees, if required, are extra.
He is not a qualified architect but his training is in town and country planning and CAD design. Plus has worked as a planning consultant for architectural practices, and charted surveyors.
His quote was £975 for all drawings, dropping to £775 if building regs weren't required due to the size of the extension we decide to go for.
He has offered us references, plus I've seen the work he has done on his own home.
Do you think that's a fair quote?
Thanks

How big is the extension going to be? I'm just wondering if it needs architectural quality drawings at all.
We pay £750 to our architect for big extensions that need PP - I'm talking measuring up the entire house and designing an extension that is as big as a house.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The price is in the right ball park, yes.
Is there any requirement for planning permission? Building regs are surely always required regardless of size?0
