Criminal Injury Compensation

Hey
Does anyone on here know anything about the process of claiming this compensation?
I've had an amount offered to me but was wondering about appealing their decision and if it's worth it.

I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Thanks
That's actually very useful
According to this the amount they offered is considerably lower as they don't seem to have recognised the most serious injury.
Anyone know if appealing runs the risk of the original being reduced?0 -
My experience is that while there is always a possibility that the original decision could be reduced on appeal, this rarely happens in practice (though that may not be of any comfort if it happens to you!)
More info about appeals here. If you believe the most serious injury has been overlooked, I suggest that you get (further) medical evidence / reports on the nature, symptoms, prognosis, and effect on your ability to carry out normal day to day activities, in support of your appeal.
You should also submit your appeal within the 90 day deadline, even if you have to attach a note to say that further documentary evidence is awaited and will follow separately. If you do have to send further documents separately, make sure you put your name, address and case number on each page, and send it by 'signed for' post.

I can't believe how they managed to overlook the most serious injury! My skull was cracked open and I suffered a brain haemorrhage.
