Are PPCs recognising that the end is near

We have one Private Parking Company offering to get charges cancelled for a fee (which I don't support- just one bunch of crooks feeding off other crook's actions).

We have Parking Eye selling out.

We have CEL publicly biting the hand that feeds it.

Is this a dash for cash by the more forward looking companies who can see the writing on the wall? Or just the usual PPC greed?

And we have the forum member run appeal service (which I welcome).

Interesting times ahead in PPC world.

I think the cowboys need to go, and from my viewpoint that means all of them. Parking Management can work if it is management and companies pay for that service, without the money making scam that is there now.

The way to bring this industry to its knees is that the dvla has got to stop selling our data to private companies for gain, they circumvent the DPA, and think they are above everyone. So the way forward is to lobby MPs to make changes to prevent the wholesale feeding frenzy by the dvla and PPCs

And unless I'm much mistaken there has been a sharp increase across the board in refusals to issue PoPLA codes, in flagrant defiance of the recent DVLA/BPA edict.

There is a bit of a sense of desperation about it all.

I wouldn't get too excited yet but yes, I think we maybe heading towards a turning point - probably a change of business model. The biggest issue is actually the sale of PE to Capita. Capita won't give up easily - they are a huge beast and have the ear of government ( of any colour ). The ex-CEO Paul Pindar often used to dine with government ministers - I'm sure Andy Parker will do likewise.

    You wish.

As long as there are stupid and greedy people there will be PPCs, just as there will be Brighthouses, Pay Day Loan companies, betting shops, sell your gold for one third of its value shops, hearing aid shops, people who invest in fine wines, rare earth metals and land banks, ambulance chasing solicitors, bogus magazine subscriptions. and computer wirus fixers.

It is a jungle out there, but PPCs are easily seen coming and one can have some fun with them..

As you can with Vindows Technical Support. I've had them running around on many occasions.

They don't half get miffed after half an hour on the phone trying to get me to understand that I need to plug the computer into the wall and switch it on. Then for me to say, oh yes, that works, now my screen is showing something that looks like a half-eaten apple.

I'm getting to understand Indian expletives now!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

For top quality scam-baiting may I recommend the book "Delete This At Your Peril" by Neil Forsyth. To quote the blurb:-

This is an hilarious collection of email exchanges starring the anti-hero of spam, Bob Servant, now republished with previously unreleased material. Spam is the plague of the electronic age, comprising 90% of all emails sent and conning over GBP150m a year from British victims. Into this wave of corruption steps the brave figure of Bob Servant - a former window cleaner and cheeseburger magnate with a love of wine, women and song as well as a keen sense of fair play. This wickedly funny and original book features the anarchic exchanges between Bob and the hapless spam merchants. As they offer Bob lost African millions, Russian brides and get-rich-quick scams. He responds by generously offering some outlandish schemes of his own. The spammers may have breached his firewall, but they have met their match as Bob Servant rises heroically to the challenge, and sows confusion in his wake.

I don't have any problems with paying to park, even ppc's actually managing parking. Sensible fee's per hour and a max of a days parking charge for not getting a ticket or well overstaying. Its the greed of the current lot will be their downfall.
