Another suggestion is to cover whatever glass you use with safety film (Mothercare, Babyboots, Toys'R'Us). On both sides, if necessary. So that if it breaks again the bits are held together rather than scattered all over your dinner / house.
See if you can find a friendly glazier and talk to them about what would be best.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We have a similar door and had laminated glass panels fitted - they are more expensive than ordinary glass though. They can be broken but the pieces are held together and don't fly all over the place (same principle as a car windscreen).
You could also get frosted fablon for windows (have a look at the B&Q web site) - you stick it over the glass and it looks like frosted glass. That would also offer some protection to the glass, at least from one side.0 -
Yes unbelieveable is right, you could get someone in to fit normal glass, and you can buy safety glass fablon from B & Q, its clear all you do is cut it to shape and place over the glass, I saw workmen in my sons school covering the glass doors with this plastic stuff, it stops the glass from shattering and if the pain by happen did fall out, it would fall out in one peice.
