Sky+ catch up disappearing

Hi all,

Every single week I need to rebuild our Sky+ box planner due to the catch up feature vanishing.

Anyone else have this issue or know whats causing it?

Are you switching your internet router off overnight? You can usually get the Catch Up Service to return simply by going to the menu and clicking on the red "reset" button after selecting "Network" in the "Settings" option.

To work properly, your Sky+HD needs an uninterrupted connection to the Internet. It sounds very much as if it hasn't.

The router is not turned off regularly but it prob does get unplugged once every week or so for one reason or another. Will try to avoid this and see if the problem goes away. Cheers.

Mine does it also so that all the tabs under on demand don't show up. I've no idea what causes it - I always unplug the sky box for a few minutes which seems to fix it for a while but eventually they go again.

There is a new Sky EPG being rolled out at the moment so I'm hoping that will sort it.

You might want to ask the question on the Sky forums - they are generally well intentioned over there, even if it sometimes takes them a while to catch on.

I'm really hoping that the new EPG gets rid of the really annoying feature where it goes to the welcome channel of the Sky box when you take it out of standby, rather than staying on your last viewed channel. That really gets up my goat!

    That's regularly!

If you don't turn off your router at all, your Sky problem will cease and overnight downloads of your "Showcase" selection will not be prevented/interrupted.

The answer will be the same over there.

That only happens if you put the Box into "Eco" Standby and won't be "fixed" by any EPG upgrade .It's a power saving feature. You can change the setting by pressing "Services" on the remote and changing the Standby setting to either "Active" or "None".

And additionally, each time you unplug it has to resycnch with the exchange upon reconnection, with a resultant slowdown in your line speed. Leave it connected.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I don't think my box is in Eco standby mode, but I'll check that; thanks! I always put it into standby mode myself when I've finished viewing and switch off my display.

The box should return to the channel you were viewing unless you put the box into deep standby by pressing and holding the standby button.
