Then s/c's are still payable unless on an NSC tariff.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

If its elec only and you pay by DD npower tariffs are zero standing charge, the DD discount removes the standing charge.

Utilita seem to still be offering banded tariffs, but I imagine Ofgem will be having words shortly!

    thanks.

Looks like its npower for electricity, which is used in short bursts but no more than around £50 a quarter when standing charge is not taken into account.

And zero gas for a while yet. So its ebico for gas!

edit: looks like the zero standing charge is on npower standard tarriff only, and then you have to be a dual fuel customer?

It suits me fine as long as the SC is zero!

Looking for cashback offers now but it appears that ebico consistently appears at the top of the list of comparisons and I'll have to call them directly.

I think this suits me fine for now! Thanks for the help everyone. No way would I have known about ebico without the replies above!

    Thanks again.

Current usage is around 850KWH for elec and zero for gas.

edit again: looks like I'll go with First Utility fixed tarriff until April 2016. About £10 more expensive than ebico but at least the price is fixed. There are exit penalties but i'll get around £30 quidco off one of the comparison sites so if I do need to exit this will soften the blow a bit.

First Utility scare stories abound on here. Horrendous cust service and getting money back off them , they make even Npower look good, also I believe the cashback from Quidco etc has been stopped by Ofgem

Now you're scaring me. I've still got time to cancel so I guess it's either npower standard tariff or ebico for both gas and elec?

I started a switch to First Utility for a freind over 5 months ago, so far they have nt managed to complete the switch and we `ve given up. When you read about people being 61 st in the queue to speak to cust services and 8 weeks to respond to emails you start to lose faith. Do a search on here for more stories

I've recently moved to Ebico as I'm a low user - single, PV panels which via an immersion also give me hot water over the summer and, hopefully, a wood-burning stove to go in over the summer. [I hope so, my small garden already has plenty of free wood stacked up!]

Currently I'm with nPower, who I wouldn't recommend to anyone, although not getting bills from them is doing wonders for my cash-flow! I'd rather not pay by DD - fortunately I don't currently, so should be able to extract myself from nPower with minimal pain - and Ebico charge the same for whatever payment method. No good for anyone with normal consumption though..

    cancelled today. Changed to Ebico.

Thanks for the warnings and I've just read horror stories of npower and First Utility on this site .

Glad I realised this before it was too late to change back.
