Kitchen worktops-online sellers?

I need a new kitchen worktop and like the look of the solid wood ones. Went to Homebase today and 3m costs around £750, Wickes cost about £500. Looking online there are loads of sellers who appear to be offering a similar product for about £200. This seems a bit too good to be true so I'm wondering if anyone else has purchased worktops online, and what their thoughts are.
Many thanks,
Dawn.

I have but not wooden ones. Mine were from Duropal and were good quality laminate. I ordered samples from their website first. I was very pleased with them. They are now over 18 months old and still look perfect.0 -
There are some good and bad ones out there...Work for Wickes..our solid wood is now very good (twas not always so!) but customers of mine have had mixed results when sourcing online. Some have managed to get excellent quality for up to 40% less than we charge at list price...others have received some very poor quality material indeed.
Hopefully someone on here will be able to recommend you a good one.
Large worktop distributors like IDS will do some decent material for a reasonable price too.0 -
Just over a year ago we bought our solid oak worktops from worktopexpress (sorry dont know how to post a link!). Firdt class service and product.0

I can second the recomendation for worktop express, good delivery with own staff geared up to deliver heavy products. Every bit as good as the sheds (better really but at a reasonable price)

Our neighbour recommended worktop express to us too as he has had a good experience with them. Their prices are certainly competitive!
Barncrest is another one that gets a lot of recommendations but they seem a lot more expensive.0 -

I've gone ahead and ordered 2 x 3m oak worktops-£145 each plus £40 delivery, from worktopexpress. I'll let you know how I get on.0

Worktops arrived today. Really heavy and solid (each 3m length weighs 112kg). Both pieces undamaged and natural looking, yet 'matching'. Really pleased.0
