yet another depressing glass half empty load of nonsense.
do you truely believe women were happier and better off in the days before they had the freedom to choose?
you misunderstand the nature of women freedom to choose.
Why because it doesn't fit your ideas.
I am sure they are all much happier as you say. Having the freedom to choose just which job to slave away in to make ends meet. We have truly progressed."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

debt only need servicing rather than being repaid
Only needs servicing - no problem then? Just a slight one though when you can't."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

What reference to debt do you require?
debt only need servicing rather than being repaid
every rational person will choose mortgage debt rather than rent
Not sure about rational but yes of course that's the case. If an economy is built on a policy monetary expansion. Then yes debt is the preferred option. As inflation erodes the value of money.
Debt requires financing not only servicing. The only undated Government debt I can recall is 3.5% War Loan Stock which was issued in 1914. In time there's billions of pounds of Government debt to resell. Savers will only support Government policy for so long.0 -

and what is your 'solution': women should be forceably excluded from the workplace, uni, forbidden to take out mortgages, buy a house?
or maybe nobody should have to work atall : all should feed from the money tree?0 -

savers have support government debt for at least 400 years so I guess we're pretty safe.0 -

Perhaps more would like a choice.
My original point was that we, as a society, have become dependent on dual incomes, what next triple incomes?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

All true enough, and Cable does appear to have been out of his depth in the job at times. For all that though, he is one of the few people in the political establishment who was highlighting the issues in the housing market in the run up to 2007, and he was proved right. When someone with that track record suggests that we're back in that danger zone , it would imho be foolish to simply dismiss it and dismiss anyone who suggests he might have a poit (again!) as being "a frother" (whatever that means).
I don't take Cable seriously and any correct calls are likely a result of randomness. He's the type of politician that has called 8 of the last 1 housing crashes.
You say he appears to be out of his depth and Graham says he can't take Cable seriously but you both think we should pay attention when he talks about housing bubbles. I don't have a problem with people arguing about the presence of a housing bubble but when those same people are quoting Cable to make the point they lose credibility.
The Lib Dems have scored a political own goal by engaging with Farage and Cable is being called on to resign over his handling of the PO privatisation. Cable needs to divert attention and knows that shouting 'bubble' at a home owners party will grab the same attention as shouting 'bomb' on an aeroplane.
David Buik is more diplomatic ‘I am afraid he is very accident prone and much more interested in political expediency than he is helping to stimulate the economy back to recovery.’0 -

Don't think that is strictly true. I know a few fairly traditional Muslim families where the women do not work, but home ownership is the norm. This is in London.0
