Does anyone know if your travelling expenses are refunded if you are required to attend the JC daily?

Yes, by the cheapest form. Only on your actual signing day are you not eligble to claim expenses.

In my area there isn't a specific criteria, - if your advisor feels that more frequent signing will be advantageous they will use it - it's frequently used if there are suspicions that someone is spending less than 30 hours a week on their job search.

Pretty much advisers discretion, but there needs to a reason rather tham just not likeing someone. Criteria are normally 18-24 pre work programme, anyone who is needing daily intervention to look at jobsearch, no fixed abode or permanent address, post work programme and long term unemployed to name a few.
After 28th April lots more people will be on daily signing ans the new help to work packages kick in. Daily signing will be for a period of 3 mnths.

What a load of unnecessary and cruel bullying and harassment. What the long-term unemployed need are decent (not zero hour or part time contract) jobs to go to, not punishment for not having a job.

I will never step foot inside a job centre, no matter how desperate I might be - theres no way I would ever stand for being treated the way that JSA claimants are in this country.

If they are having to pay your expenses, its going to cost them a fortune and that wont last for long.

They also struggle to cope with the work load of signing people once a fortnight so daily signing will kill them.

I agree its harsh, they are assuming people arent making an effort and they are blindly ignoring the fact there is a recession and few jobs around. Bloody govt, its never lack of jobs, always the unemployed thats the problem.

Lack of jobs is not the problem as you can never have full employment its turning people down for being out of work that's the bigger problem.

Daily signing I am sure wont happe at my JC as they have only 2 people to sign everyone WP and post WP and at present seem to run 20 mins late at 9.30am.
We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com

Sounds like my JC, and they are struggling to cope as it is with fortnightly signing.

The OP asks if travel expenses will be refunded for daily attendance.

My office is planning to issue local bus passes where necessary.

As posted elsewhere, this is Daily Attendance (for supervised jobsearch) and not 'Daily Signing'. They will use the new WADs (jobsearch PCs) for this, in offices where they have been installed (i.e. not ours).

From the 28th April, this will apply to around a third of claimants 'returning' from Work Programme. Another third will be referred to Community Work provision, and the remainder will be subject to the present Manatory Intervention Regime (inc. weekly signing).

Who does what, will be decided following following an eight week assessment process, carried out by Work Coaches (Advisors).

Since the claimant count has been falling nationally for more than 6 months, the management think that Jobcentres have the spare capacity to implement this along with the other '28th April Measures'.

Yes claimant count is falling but long term unemployment is rising.

The new devices are all due to be installed in the next few weeks. There is the expectation all JC staff will deliver all the new regimes with the exception of the community action programme, thats a 1/3 of the people who wont be comng in hence the manpower to see the rest.
