Anti-Money Laundering checks on CRA

The other day I was asked to send a copy of my CRA file to a credit card company.
So reactivated my old Equifax account and set up a new trial, downloaded the PDF and sent it off. Obviously checked it first just to make sure nothing odd/ wrong was there and noticed that my main bank (Barclays) are doing almost monthly CRA checks and each time it comes as a batch of three - one is marked "id check to comply with anti-money laundering" and the other two "additional address".
Simply because these are almost every month gave Barclays a call and the chap that I eventually was put through to declared that these were simply telephone banking confirming my identity as I'd failed to provide the right password.
On the grounds I dont call monthly and dont recall ever failing my password I challenged this again. He got shirty and went off to check and then came back saying that actually there were no recorded calls for any of the dates I'd given. He would therefore log a complaint and someone would get back to me.
Received a Final Response saying that they are entitled to do the checks and that they are due either to validate telephone calls or when there is activity that is outside the norm for the account. Plus it doesnt matter as no one ever sees them.
Now we have already eliminated it being telephone calls and something thats happened for 15 of the last 18 months doesnt sound like something thats out of the norm for my account. Plus whilst the final comment is normally true, the credit card company that I had to send my CRA file to obviously could see them.
Do I let it drop because generally it doesnt matter? Push for further explanation as they've been unable to explain them and it could be that someone is trying to do something in my name/ to my account etc? Or..... ?

I guess you need to find out if someone else has been trying to access your account but that aside, I really don't think it matters. Only you can see thos searches and whoever is checking doe snot see your credit data - just that you are recorded as living at your address.0

As an appeal for a decline for a credit card. I have been told to do so before and both this time and last time it result in the rejection being overturned and a healthy limit being given (£8k this time)0 -

Havent dont a BT in years and the 1 CC I actively use just has a DD to clear in full each month so should never go positive and that card isnt issued by the bank doing the checks.0 -

Just wondering why they couldn't look at the credit search which they persumably carried out.0 -

No idea, but Halifax and Barclaycard both asked for the same. Could be the telephone staff trying to put barriers in or giving poor advice but from my point of view, do whats instructed.0 -
