New driver car insurance choices
Options
Hi.
I am a new driver, just passed my test.
So here comes the next, i want to buy a car,
there are two thing i can think about,
i can buy a 1 year old car now which costs little bit more on insurance and keep it for next 5 years,
or
I can buy a car which saves me few quids on the insurance now and but i may not be able to keep that car for 5 years.
Dont know which one works out the best in terms of long term?
Please can some one help?

Why would the car which is cheaper to insure not last 5 years?0

Well its not that it wont survive, generally if you buy a vauxhall now definitely you feel like exchanging it to something else in next 2.5 years no?0

Hang on, I'm missing something here. When did Vauxhall come into the equation, you were just talking about the difference between:- Car which is expensive to insure
- Car which is cheap to insure

well cheap car would cost as much as rival quality car in terms of rapairs and other maintenance?
But i am not meant argue about the cheap or the best..i was only meant to ask which is the best to run with ?0 -

I'm completely lost. I'm afraid that hasn't helped clear this up for me at all.0 -
i will alter the question ..should i buy a skoda (rapid/fabia) or vauxhall corsa? which would be cheaper (including insurance) to run and likely to give a better value for money after 5 years(resale etc) ?0

Which will be cheaper to insure. Depends on your postcode / age and which insurance company you use.
Picked a random London postcode and £2350 to over £8000 for a 18 year old male. 5 year old Fabia.
Same details but an Oldham poscode and the total number of results dropped. Lowest quote just over £4000.
Stick a 1 year old car in and the prices were pretty much the same.
But choose a car over 10 years old and the prices went up.
Resale? Depends how much you trashed it in learning to drive. Which you only do AFTER passing your test.
Better value for money is buy something cheap in the 1st place. A £500 car will only lose £500 in value.
I paid just over £2000 for my car in 2009. Still going strong. Its a workshorse that i am not worried about getting dirty or inspecting it for tiny scratches every day.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
