Artificial Grass & Money Saving

Hi,

I'm spending £15 a month with Green Thumb for my front and back lawn but I've got weeds growing in the bedding at the sides and they keep blowing onto my lawn all the time so I'm thinking it might be cheaper in the long run to get some artificial grass installed. I've ordered a few samples and I like the look of it.

Any thoughts be would be appreciated

Thanks

You wouldn't like it where I live. :rotfl:

My more considered answer is that I've yet to visit a Yellow Book garden with artificial turf. ;)

Don't think it will be maintenance free. You'll still have to brush all the leaves and other debris out of it on a regular basis, plus to keep the "pile" upright. You'll need to clean off any marks or dirt, and it has been known (so a neighbour once informed me) for weeds and moss to grow through the turf (and have to be removed by hand).

It's probably less trouble than a natural lawn but not maintenance free, so up to you.

I guess one solution would be for you to keep your current lawn (cheaper than buying an artificial one) and find a good local gardener to maintain it (and the borders) instead?

    Just go for it!
If the upkeep is too expensive, and you end up with a nice piece of lawn then why worry.
One of our neighbours has an artificial lawn and it looks really neat (apart from when the foxes/cats poo on it;)), and our lawn was so bad that we are getting rid of it.
