I have good credit and never been turned down for anything but I applied for a credit card and saw a better one so now I want to go for that but will it effect my credit rating or will I been denied and it's in the same month ?

Having 2 credit applications in a month is unlikely to be a reason for a potential lender to decline you.

  • Applying for two things in one month isn't going to affect anything I don't think. The more you apply for in a short space of time, the more of a risk you have of looking desperate to lenders.
  • I have a similar question so thought I'd add it to this thread! We have just put a mortgage application in, it has been initially approved and is now in process - would it be silly to now apply for a new credit card? Just as the Santander cashback deal will be very helpful for all the furniture we're going to have to buy for the new house! But I have also heard that too many applications in a short space of time is a bad idea...

Generally its advised never to apply for any credit products at all between a mortgage offer and completion of the purchase. There is always a small chance applying for new credit could cause the mortgage company to withdraw the mortgage offer.

  • Thanks for that! Will just have to see what Quidco can offer us instead then...
