Hi
I have a budget of 4000 quid. I want a 5 seater snall car with cheap tax.
I was looking at honda jazz ( dont get much for your £) , hyundai 1.10 or the kia picanto.
Any advice welcome!
Also ive never bought a car before as ive akways inherited my hubs old one! Where would you recommend? A forecourt? Or gumtree?
TIA
Donna

I've known a few owners of older Honda Jazz, and they all seem happy with their choice of car.
But all the cars you mentioned are on the small side for a car that will regularly seat 5 people.0 -
All the pensioners round here love the Jazz and the i10- they know about value and reliability so I would have thought that they are good solid choices. The i10 will certainly be a bit tight for 5 passengers, you may want to look at the i30.0

It will be the exception that I carry 5. But still want the option to. And three of the 5 would be kids.
What about forecourt vs gumtree?0 -
The i10 is very small. the Jazz is fine with 5 people and the magic seats are great. £4,00 will get you a 2005 ish so get it checked thoroughly.Je suis sabot...0

I prefer forecourt unless you or hubs knows a lot about cars0

Another "Cheap Tax" So it wont matter if its reliable or overpriced or servicing costs more because it has cheap tax?
The tax is only once a year. Repair bills can happen more often. Check the price of cars with cheapo tax and wonder why you can get a larger family car for much less.
Even bigger family cars can give decent fuel consumption. On a trip to the seaside and back last year i averaged 57mpg. Not bad for a car with a 2L diesel engine and weighing 1.5tons. (Mondeo Estate).Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Fiesta or diesel Focus would be my advice, purely as they're still as cheap to run, just a little bigger and better for long journeys.
