I put an order with Dell on 26th March. All my details were taken, the order put through and an expected delivery date of 2nd April given.
The 2nd came and went so I contact Dell as to whats going on.
Today, they reply with some gubbins, that they dont have stock so new estimate date is 1 May.
Im perplexed as to why Dell are taking orders they cannot fulfil in a timely fashion. Is it me, or is this all a bit cavalier?
Whats the best approach to this?

Cancel your order and take your business elsewhere.
Plenty of other online stores where you can buy laptops, Dell's laptops are nothing special although their business class ones have a decent reputation for longevity.
What kind of spec do you need and what's your budget?0 -
Many thanks for the quick reply.
My order was for the Inspiron 15 - Inspiron Notebook 3537 Base, Windows 8.1 (64Bit) for £329
Can you please suggest a suitable substitute?"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
Did they take your money first? As for a suggestion for an alternative you need to tell the people who know (the hardware experts on here) what you want you it to do. No answer to your problems but just a few more questions...sorry4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I had the same trouble last year. Cancelled my original order and found an equivalent in their Outlet section for £££s less. (At least with Outlet you know they have the actual item immediately available.)0

I filled the form out last night to cancel my order and got a call this morning saying one is being sent out immediately. Bunch of clowns."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
I was expecting delivery today between 1 and 5pm and nothing arrived. Now the status has been updated to Monday. 4 different delivery dates in 48-hours.
This is hard to beat for incompetency."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
A few years ago now I placed an order with Dell, then there was an issue with the spec so I cancelled and got my money back. Not long after a courier turned up trying to deliver it. I've never had anything to do with them since, bunch of clowns.0
