Hams, cheeses, cottage cheese, creme fraiche etc are all good quality and a lot cheaper.
If you have an in store bakery it's excellent.
The meat is generally good, I find it better than Sainsburys, Tesco or Asda but maybe not as good as Aldi.
Alcohol is good but again I find Aldi has more choice.
Frozen samosas and bhajis are lovely and great for lunches.
Flowers are really good, lovely roses for £3 and they last for ages.0 -
only sardines to feed my greyhounds!!0

When did greyhounds start eating sardines?
It's like when you see dog/cat food adverts and they highlight the peas and gravy! Sorry, but cats and dogs do not need peas and gravy!
I bet that idiot you see on YouTube who feeds his cat with a fork buys it though.
Back to lidl though, the tinned soups are lush!0 -

OOH thank you everyone I'm very hungry now but I also have a very good list with lots of yummy products on to buy later
The tinned stuff I am especially glad to see lots of people seem to buy there as that's what I really want to stock up on
We move in next week so I will do non-perishables tonight and go back next week for fresh stuff!!
Might even venture to an Aldi at some point - sounds like the place to go for meat and fruit&vegOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

I buy them for my 2 boys there too, one has a coat like velvet and the other is as glossy as a seal.

Usually do my shopping a Aldi but was in Lidl this week for a huge bulk buy of peach ice-tea. #1 son loves it.
The fresh fruit and veg is good but needs to be consumed quickly for best results.
Also bought one of their lavender pots, very healthy and smells gorgeous.I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -
One of my local Lidl's has an instore bakery - their Blueberry Muffins are beyond amazing! The bread rolls and baguettes are also very, very good - we particularly like the cheese topped rolls and the cheese & onion rolls.
Things I regularly buy:
Coleslaw
Cold meats, ham & salami, various sorts, never disappointed
Knightsbridge Tea Bags (red box)
Ginger Nut biccys
Fruit shortcake biccys
Their own make of Bounty, Snickers, Kinder bars, Twix's - very good.. yes, you can taste the difference between the brand name, but absolutely perfect for lunch boxes.
Loo Rolls
Baby wipes
Frozen chips
Many other things - but I will put myself out to but the above in Lidl, rather than shop elsewhere2011: £10 Sports Direct Voucher, Peppa Pig Wii Game, Trivial Pursuit Card Game, £100 Chat magazine win, Dance workout dvd, Grease wii game,0 -
Their 'Freeway' fizzy drinks are great - I prefer the cola to Pepsi, their orangeade to Fanta & Tango, plus the lemonade is better than Tesco/Asda own brand in my opinion. Plus their own brand versions of chocolate bars such as Twix, Mars & Snickers are all very nice.
Fresh meats are usually very good quality & reasonably priced, and there's a farmhouse white bread (not prepared in store) which is great.
Wines - They do a £3.99 Rioja called Cepa Lebrel (I think that's what it's called...), plus there's a decent 14% abv South African Pinotage which are both fantastic value for money. I prefer the Australian Chardonnay to the Californian, both are decent value for money.
The have a range of crisps under their premium banner 'Deluxe' - and one flavour in particular is great - think it's Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream - yum!
Fruit & veg are inconsistent - I'm thinking it's to do with the transport/storage/cooling, but sometimes the fruit lasts a while, but then other times it hasn't lasted long & I've had to throw some away. Recently bought their 2kg bag of apples - which on this occasion were massive Braeburns - a bargain at £1.60-£1.70ish if I remember correctly.
Stay aways - again, just in my personal opinion these are the items I won't buy from there again...
- Own brand 'Muller Rice' equivalents - very unpleasant.
- Cat food - we have 3 cats & they all refuse to eat it.
- Certain toiletries - not convinced by toothpastes, shower gels etc.
To be honest, that's about it for the 'negatives' - most other things I would consider again at the price they're offered at. I'd recommend doing one shop there replacing some of your usual items with the Lidl equivalent. That's the only way of knowing what you'll happily buy again.Best competition wins:

I was just after quick replies from people to say 'the Jam is good' or 'dry pasta is much cheaper and tastes the same' etc
So anyone who has suggestions along those lines please feel free to educate me, thanks.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
