There is also an option to get your equifax file for free at the moment (until 6th April) so maybe also look at that - Free Equifax Credit Report - Until 6th April 2014

Either way...is it really something she needs to delve too closely into? If it is the 18 year old one, it is almost certainly statute barred and if it is someone else with a similar name, it isnt her problem anyway.

Not really, but if it is a statute barred debt I think its preferable to send a letter to stop further chasing so she doesn't continue to get letters/texts/calls etc.

It cannot be relied on to be the complete picture. You need all three to be absolutely sure.

If it is the 18 years old debt, then sounds likely that it was statute barred after 6 years (12 years ago). If it was statute barred then, it still is now, as once barred no possible acknowlement or payment can unbar it.

I have now got my Equifax credit report and apart from one or two late payments there is nothing on it that suggests anything bad.

There are no linked addresses or any CCJ's. What else should I check for?

    CIFASS markers?

Get the Experian one to be sure, but it does certainly sound like the 18 year old one was what Frederickson were after. In which case, they can...take a long walk. So far you are ought for two.

    No CIFAS markers..

I will purchase an Experian report as you have suggested too.

If it too proves to be as clean as the others, your next course of action is entirely up to you...they hybrid letter Tixy suggested or simply ignore, or a stiff letter telling them to rack off and threatening FSA involvement. I have been known to write a mean stiff letter.....
