in Cutting tax
Heads up for others a bit late but somehow I missed that the you can no longer go back 6 years for reviews it is now only 4.
Probably saw it but did not register in the brain.
For various reason I am just getting on top of some finances going back a few years, when I was on short form returns from around 2006 and include a redundancy in 09, so I though I had plenty of time to collate and get up to date, well I was checking if any forms were needed and spotted the deadline for 09-10 reviews is this week.
Hopefully they will deal with my request to review just 09-10 if they get the letter posted last night.
Any views on getting extensions if they decide they don't want to deal with it?

The time limit changed on 1 April 2010 according to HMRC website.
You mention a short form - are you in self assessment?
If so, and you are submitting a self assessment tax return after the time limit of 5 April 2014 the following guidance on how HMRC deal with out of date tax returns may help

Have you been sent a revenue determination for 2009-10? If not and you are expecting a refund it looks like you will not get an extension ....see example 3 on the above link.
If you are PAYE only, HMRC would have to receive any repayment claim for 2009-10 by 5 April 2014 or you are out of time and there is no extension.

letter sent 1st class on the 2nd and phoned in to make the claim and get it noted on the system.
We will see what they say.
My fault for not noticing the change in backdating.
Was not doing self assessment at the time will have to go through the various letters from HMRC to see what was the situation was at the time I did get adjusted PAYE codes for pension/investment incomes so may have been just PAYE.0 -
Update :
HMRC have replied they are going to work on the calculation and would I like to do the other 3 years I am probably due a refunds (they can tell from their records).
Busy next week finding all the relevent paperwork.
This may teach me to get organized.0
