Housing benefit and work

I rent my home from a housing association and part of my rent is paid via housing benefit - I don't qualify for full payment as I have a small NHS pension which takes me over the limit. I have just got a job as a casual exam invigilator which means I will be earning for just 6 weeks in the year, paid a month in arrears. I know this means my benefit will be reduced but can anyone tell me if the amount I earn in that time will be counted as annual salary (I won't be undertaking any other employment) and the reduction spread over the year, or will it just be reduced for the months I'm paid?
Hope that makes sense!

Would depend on your age, hours worked and the amount of your Private Pension. What is your income at the moment - just private pension?
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Private pension is currently £205 a month, plus state pension. Not sure about number of hours I'll be working as haven't had any info as yet and I'm 64.

Would also depend on the amount of SRP you receive.

I sometime do casual work and my council. I send in a copy of my payslip to housing benefit and they adjust it. I have been told that it only affects the month you get paid the money as long as it does not take you over the annual allowance.

I should have asked apart from your small private pension do you receive any other income.
