Point is, it's still there, and if the phone can be tracked down through e-paper trails, it's solid evidence that it is the right phone.0

I hate to disappoint you, but labels can be removed and if you've ever had a mobile phone stolen you might realise just how much effort the police put into tracking them.
I'm not saying don't report or try and block the imei cos every little helps but don't be naive that stickers can't be removed or stolen phones sold on just because you've reported it stolen.0
