Hi All
Iam pretty new to this. I want to try and reclaim bank charges hoping to negotiate some of my debt down. I have an overdraft, loan and credit card with Barclays will I need to send three requests with three separate ten pounds? or could I send one request with just the one off 10.00?? Who do you make postal order out to also and would you recommend sending by recorded delivery?
thanks in advance

If you are not in current financial "hardship" then the Bank will not even consider refunding any charges and even if you meet the hardship criteria then only charges from typically the last six months will have any chance of refund.
If your request is for a refund of historical charges, you are simply wasting your time and multiple £10 payments.0 -
ok well there is no harm trying? so iam guessing by your reply id need to send three separate payments?... i know the main debt I have is a barclaycard and although iam on a dmp as its not minimum payment they keep charging me late payment fee so that one probably worth trying?0

If it's all with Barclays, just send the one payment and ask for all the pertininent info in he one letter.
You won't receive any historical bank charges because they won a court case about 'unlawful' charges in 2009.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

I have had fair success in debt negotiation (allbeit, not with Barclays). It may well be worth a tenner just to see how much of your debt is made up by penalties and interest, often added after a debt has been defaulted and/or an account terminated.
I am a big believer in knowing everything I can before making decisions.
One SAR should bring everything, although often not within the 40 days and often in dribs and drabs.Money may not buy happiness .. but it lets you be miserable in comfort.0 -

So for the purposes of trying to claim back bank charges, anything older than six months is "historical". You can request a full breakdown of recent charges without incurring any costs at all if you are still a customer.0
