Hi all this is my latest problem there s always something. I ve got a BT home hub 3 which of late had been dropping the wifi but funnily enough I put my netbook on and that was fine where as my iPad couldn t connect all of a sudden.
I don't know if it's coincidence but since I took the ovivo sim out it's started doing this or the fact that I've set up a you view box as well. Could it be the hub has too much working off it . Spoken to a guy in India huh and he s suggested me buying an ethernet cable and connecting it from the pc to the hub and see if that's any better because according to his tests it's all working fine. Any suggestions please

If the ipad 'suddenly' lost its connection in time with netbook being used then it could be the ipaddress has been taken by the other device - need to check the ipad network settings to see what it has set and what the netbook is using.
Because the ipad doesn't have its 3g signal (following taking out the sim card) then its having to only use wifi now (where as before it may have fallen back to using 3g)..
it could also be interference from other wifi signals - inssider application can be good to see what channels each nearby wifi router is using.
How many wireless devices are you using? I have 2 Xboxes, laptops and iphones and ipads all working at the sametime on wifi with no problems..
check if the router is in dual mode - 2.4ghz and 5ghz as some devices can have problems depending on how this is set (not sure if that version of homehub has that option)..0 -

Hi thanks for all that.it certainly makes sense to me. I have this BT hub 3 in one bedroom next to the desktop pc. In another bedroom next door I am usually on my iPad. Then I have a powerline adapter plugged in the router. Oh and my iPhone.
I don t know how to check if it's in dual mode or what really lol.
I m hoping to get a sim back in my iPhone and iPad as soon as I find the best ones for me as a light user on the iPhone but rely heavily on the iPad. So if I had a choice of the two I'd pick the iPad. Was thinking of the 321 sim from 3 for the iPhone ( or sell it) and a samba sim for the odd days when I use it away from the home.0 -
To check the dual mode, login into the router, should be in there somewhere, its the only way I know of to check, I dont have BT BB but my router/modem does have the dual band option.0

The HH3 in standard mode has a channel switching feature, whereby it will look for WiFi channels with the least interference and move to them rather than staying on one channel.
Using a PC connected to the HH, log into the control panel and change it to broadcast on a single channel. Download inSSIDer to a wireless PC and use this to see what's a quiet channel in your area. I found the iDevices to be much more reliable after doing this. I think I also googled 'best wifi channel for iPad' to select it, as well
Some folks also find that allocating static IP addresses to the devices connecting to the HH helps
Look on the forum at bt.com for similar tales and advice0 -
I agree with googler, I had to sort an HH2 the other day which was intermittently dropping out for no obvious reason. After much fruitless fiddling I eventually switched it from Auto to a quieter channel (with the help of SSIDer), and it's connected fine ever since.
Auto switching is fine in theory, but it rarely seems to work well in practice. No free lunch, and no free laptop
